My Classroom

After teaching in my previous fifth-grade classroom for 13 years, September 2013 brought a change to a new grade and a new teaching space. Here is a tour of my 2/3 classroom!

This post IS a few years old, so some parts of my classroom have changed. Check out the links for additional info!

This is where most of the magic happens. The carpet/SMART Board area is where we spend a great deal of our day, and it is also where the CAFE Board is located.

Next to the SMART Board and the carpet is the writing and word work area. Most of the centers and supplies are kept here. You can take a closer look at my word work activities in THIS BLOG POST.

The writing area continues into the leveled library with the Boggle board and word wall above. You can take a closer look at my alphabet posters and number posters by clicking either of these links.

Since this photo was taken, I've condensed my Word Wall and added my hanging Differentiated Word Lists just above the shelf. You can grab the word wall headers for FREE! My classroom library decor has been updated since this photo. You can take a peek at my last set-up HERE!

This wall is opposite the SMART Board. It is the math wall as well as where I've organized our daily agenda, classroom jobs & student mailboxes.

The bins hold our math manipulatives. You can grab the editable labels for these HERE.

I blogged about our T.A.C.K. board HERE.

The last section of the room holds our literacy wall, our Brag Tags and my desk area (which I'm going to leave out as it is the least-tidy area of the room!).

I've grown pretty fond of this little space. It somehow feels more "mine" than even the last room after 13 years in it. Perhaps it is because I've put so much "elbow grease" into this one. It looked like this when I arrived...!

Read a little about its transformation HERE!

Thanks for visiting!

  2. What do you keep in your cart with the colorful drawers. I have one in my classroom. I currently just have Early Finishers in there but I originally imagined I would keep center supplies in them.

  3. I love your classroom! It's so organized that's the way I have mine. But I got some good ideas from yours for next year. Where did you get the labels for the math manipulatives?? I like the font and color and that they are so big.

    1. Thanks so much, Carolyn! I actually made the labels myself to fit those boxes. I used chevron frames from Lovin' Lit on TpT, and the font is a Hello Font. :)
